There is always a futuristic image about perfect portable computer and people starts to focus on functionality and comfort. Surface Pro tried to reach more levels with new ideas among tablets although there is still some issue related to battery and OS functionality. Let see how performs the Surface Pro 2 and how Microsoft improved its new tablet.
There is only one noticeable change at first sight, label replaced from Microsoft to Surface. Everything else seems the same as the previous version overall which basically a well shaped body. Still the sharp edges and high quality VaporMG alloy with 10.81 x 6.81 x 0.53 dimensions. 
42Wh battery and active cooling system increases the weight to 2lbs. The fans activated at high load only, they’re quiet and balanced. The device is warm on maximum performance as much as its competitors only.
The FullHD, 10,6-inch IPS display panel powered by Intel HD Graphics 4400 core in 4th generation i5-4300U processor (3M Cache, up to 2.90 GHz). These type of CPU’s appears in laptops mostly so it’s just unusual in this tablet. Although the Intel CPU with Haswell architecture is designed for low power consumption, it’s consume a lot of power at maximum load, however this tablet rarely runs on maximum,
not even with lot of job and background process. Intel Haswell seems to be a huge improvement after ARM architecture. There are four version of Surface Pro 2, 64GB and 128GB storage with 4GB eMMC RAM and 256GB and 512GB storage with 8GB eMMC RAM. eMMC RAM also unusual in tablet, it’s a laptop RAM primarily.
Thanks to Haswell architecture, the run time improved to 10 hours. For really heavy usage, it’s still alive for more than 7 hours. This battery performance not that bad for a tablet, in fact, it’s really good if we consider the hardware above. Competitor’s tablets never seen such a hardware components like these, not even close so far.
TPM security chip, 5 GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth module included into Surface Pro 2 and will be published a 3G version later on. Ports and buttons placed similar to the previous version. We can find the power button at the top and the magnetic charger plug, Mini Display Port, the microSD slot to the right. There are a Full-size USB 3.0, Headphone jack, volume control to the left and the Cover port for keyboards at the bottom.
Unfortunately the camera resolutions still the same as previous version, 720p resolution for both camera although they’re performs well in video chat. The speakers produce surprisingly high quality sounds. Surface Pro 2 comes with high quality, pressure sensitive Wacom Pen like the previous version. 3D edits can’t be a problem thanks to the great CPU graphics core. The Pen seems to be a very useful controller although easy to lost it while traveling if we attached it magnetically only. We can buy separately the Touch Cover 2, Type Cover 2 and the Power Cover keyboards for the Surface Pro 2. The previous type of keyboards still compatible with the new devices. Also separately sold the Wireless Adapter for Type Covers.
The full Windows 8.1 installed on Surface Pro 2. There are still several programs which not really compatible with high resolution and tablet size screen at once which limiting comfort until these applications receive upgrade to solve this drawback. Surface Pro 2 is a high quality device anyway and thanks to the improvements, easy to forget about our laptop while we use this great tablet.
